This is a very friendly walk that gives you an exciting experience and a strong encounter with nature. It takes you to the Confluencia Camp, at 3368m.

About this trekking

This one-day trek has a average level of difficulty. It´s the best option in order to experience a special contact with the mountain. Nature surprises us with the contrast between the abundant and colourful vegetation and the magnificence of the mountain, where the cold and the altitude plays their part. Walking through the mountains, glaciers and rivers is unforgettable.

 

 

Itinerary

We will be waiting for you at INKA EXPEDICIONES office to finalize the arrangements and give you the needed paperwork to go to the permit office and purchase your permit to enter to Park Aconcagua and your bus ticket to Penitentes.

After we met with the guide, we departure from Penitentes in private transfer to Horcones. We arrive to the Aconcagua Provincial Park, to the control post (Ranger Station) There we can admire the beautiful Laguna de Horcones (Horcones Lagoon).  
Start of the trekking tour through the stream of the Horcones river until a suspension bridge. This tour takes about an hour. Then it continues through the Quebrada del Durazno, where halfway through we’ll make a pause to relax and enjoy the views.
After going through Valle Horcones, a valley of short vegetation and lots of greenery, you will approach Confluencia. This path implies medium difficulty and it is well marked. Further ahead, the landscape slowly turns white and the path that borders the river will lead you to the place where the rivers originate while approaching the Inferior Horcones Glacier.
We will do some hikes around the camp, where the scenery will be stunning. We didn’t even have to go far to get this amazing view of our camp. The view of Mt. Almacenes is incredible with all its different colors and massive size.
Return to Horcones Park Entrance where our private transport will be waiting for us. 
Return to Penitentes. End of our services. You can walk around the Village until the bus arrive. 
You will take the bus back to Mendoza City.

The proposed itinerary can be changed due to weather conditions o other forced situations that put in risk the group security. The guides have the authority to change the program according to their criteria, to maximize the security based on his knowledge and experience.

Included Services for Scheduled Trekkings.

We will get in touch with professional, experimented and highly qualified guides, with degrees and licenses from organisms that guarantee their special training, graduates from th Provincial School for Mountain and Trekking Guides (EPGAMT), the only school that specializes on the Aconcagua, accredited in the Argentine Association for Mountain Guides (AAGM) and members of the Professional Mountain and Trekking Guides (AGPMT). Some of the guides have licences from the UIGAM.
 Transport in a private vehicle to and from Penitentes-Horcones in a private vehicle. We take you from our office in Penitentes to the entrance of Aconcagua Park, to start the trekking.
All meals are included during the trekking. Lunch Box and reception in Confluencia. If you need special meals, like vegetarian, celiac and other kinds, let us know.
There is permanent communication, through VHF, UHF radios, Satellite Telephones, between Camps, groups, Penitentes and Mendoza. This guarantees safety and organization that will lead our trekking to be a successful one.
The dining domes are completely equiped with tables, chairs, dishes and electricity, to provide the highest comfort and quality services. You will be attended by our Camp Team, in charge of preparing meals and of offering an excepcional service, a friendly treatment.
Assistance in the obtainment of Aconcagua Provincial Park entrance permits. The Aconcagua is a reserved area, managed by the Government of the Province of Mendoza. To be able to enter the park one must obtain a permit, for trekking or for ascending to the summit. You will be personally assisted in this procedure at our sales office. The permit cost is not included in our services.
Facility for the deposit and care of equipment. A person in charge of the camp supervises your equipment while you ascend. Personal equipment reviews and advice for rental, if necessary

  • Rescue costs or other costs due to the abandonment of the expedition. (Riding mule, pack mule, individual transfers, helicopter flight, extra nights, meals, extra costs for changes in your flight ticket, personal porter service, etc. – It is recommended to take out insurance to cover these expenses).

Required equipment list

Light Weight Underwear.
Long Underwear, Tops and bottoms. (Polypropylene or Capilene) cotton blends are not acceptable.
Fleece Jacket: Mid-weight.
Trekking Trousers.
Long sleeve t-shirts
Jacket: Waterproof/ breathable.
Good storm-proof mountain jacket with attached hood.
We suggested: Gore-Tex.Shorts (optional)
Sun hat: Sun hat with good visor and white bandana for protecting neck.
Head lamp (optional).
Sun glasses.

Beanie (with interior fleece lining)
Synthetic gloves: 1 pair light weight (pile or polypropylene) -inner gloves + fleece gloves-.
Warm Gloves with WindWall fleece at exterior to block winter’s raw winds.
Light hiking boots or trekking shoes.
Wool socks. (2 pairs)
Liner socks. 1 pair of smooth wool, nylon or polypropylene to be worn next to the skin. This reduces the incidence of blisters and hot-spots.
Sandals (footwear to rest, to move confortably through the camp).
Ski poles.
One pair of telescopic or collapsible, optional.
Backpack: 30 liters.
Water bottle: one one-liter water bottle.
Sun screen: SPF 30 minimum.
Lip screen: SPF 30.
Personal first aid kit. Headache pills, injuries kit, personal medication, etc.
Personal Hygiene: Wet towels, soap, etc.
Plastic bags. For pack clothes and keep dry.
